HVX200 And DSLR For Documentary

Hey everyone. I used to come on this site a few years back and Im glad that its still around. Anyways I tried the whole DSLR route to film shorts and such and it worked out but had its limits so I picked up an HVX the other month. I am just wondering how the two will mix together in FCP? I plan on using the DSLR for sit down interviews and using the HVX for the secondary camera recording the wireless lav audio track as well. Panning with the DSLR's isn't the greatest with the rolling shutter. I have the Nikon D3100 if anyone was wondering. So I am basically thinking of using my HVX for panning, zooming and driving shots since the image looks better for movement. What I am just wondering is will the two formats look weird once they are cut together in the timeline? If anyone has done this before and can help me out I would greatly appreciate it since this documentary will be filmed over a week period out in Texas and I would hate to come back and edit this all only to see the two formats not mesh well. Also what frame rate would you recomend for this? 24pn? Or will that have deinterlacing for panning and such? Thanks.

What is the maximum clip time for that camera. I have found that interviews go much smoother when you dont have to stop and start the DSLR. Recently I had to rent a second HVX200 because the 7D we had has a clip length limit of 12 minutes.

Just one man's opinion.

I use a HVX and GH2 together in the same manner you're planning. No problems with the setup, and it all fits in one backpack if need be. Footage matches fine; I typically use 1080p24 on the GH2 and 720pn24, 60p (if slomo), or 1080pa24 on the HVX. Don't know offhand what the D3100 shoots, but you may want to change what the HVX shoots since its simply more flexible.

Of course, if you already have both cameras, why not pick a day to shoot, I dunno, a day-in-the-life of your dog and see how the footage cuts together?
