HVX200/170 DOF Effect

Hi,

I'm using now a small camera hdr-xr500 and a Letus Mini DOF Adapter. I can reach nice DOF Effects.

I want to have now a bigger ca, because my small cam is very limited, shuter speed manual focus..

I'm asking me:

1) If i by a big cam like HVX170 or HVX200. Will I need a 35mm Adapter to reach nice DOF Effect?
2) Its not possible to reach nice DOF Effects only with this cam?

My objective is to have a good cam where I can setup shutter speed and basic configuration manualy and i need nice DOF Effects too.

Please help me to understand the world of bigger cams.

youre not going to get the DOF effects you want with an 170/200 without a 35mm adapter.

you can achieve a degree of DOF control but nothing like youd get with an adapter setup
 
we own an HVX200 and have shot everything with the stock lens... you'd laugh at how many people comment on how sharp we get our '35mm adapter' to look.

i agree with what wgzn has said... it's nothing like shooting on a RED or a camera with a 35mm adapter... but it can definitely be done.
