HVX undercrank. Is there a way back?

I was doing the A camera on a shoot (720p/24PN) , and the guy at camera B, somehow managed to set his HVX to shoot 18 over 24PN, so when the images were delivered to the editor, the guy just got stuck. Does anyone have any idea how can I reverse the effect? Is there a way to recapture the image to 24p?
Really aprecciate any input!

Thanks,

Pedro

so it plays charlie chaplin speed up. I'd say to do the math conversion and try to get a smooth time-remaping. If you shot it over PN then you might be stuck.. BUT, you can always try to change the base and then export it out. Maybe if there's an 18/18 in normal speed then you could convert it.. or do the speed change thing.

What are you editing in? Change the speed of that clip to 75%
I'm editing in Avid. I've tried playng it at 75% but it still looks a little jerky, and seems quite impossible to sync the audio with, I haven't tried to export it 18 over 18 tough, I'll try it out and report back.
Thanks for the answers, guys.

Bite the bullet - get the fotage into a Flame for that one shot and use a motion estimation tool. Flame's native tool is incredible and when that doesn't work you always have The Foundry's Kronos spark.

I am not sure if PN means that the camera only captured 18frames native or if it flagged the 18 frames from the 24 fps sequence. If the latter you should be able to import the 24fps and export an image sequence. Then reimport the image sequence into Quicktme Pro and set the frame rate to run at 24fps again. I'm sure this is unlikely. I have a feeling that you will end up using something like Flame to accomplish this.

How long is the clip? If you can get the uncompressed footage up to an ftp I could run it through my Flame for you and see what we get.
