HVX Travel question

I have a trip to Asia coming up. I have the choice between taking a new but stock HVX-200 setup or my trusty AJ-HDX400 with a Fuji 13X6.5. I am spending a week following a sports team. When all is said and done, will I be much happier with my AJ-HDX400 pictures? With the 400, I will be lugging more weight and much larger camera. Does compactness trump the quality, and how much of a difference will I see? I think the 400 is much easier to focus and handles low light better, but or and I have not had that much experience with the 200. I really like the thought of dealing with smaller, lighter gear, but I know the 400 a lot better. I believe I can handle the P2 workflow fine, so that is not as big an issue as quality, of course shooting on tape is easier. So it really comes down to quality versus portability, with a little consideration for workflow. In the end this will air on a 1080i cable show. Does anyone have any thoughts?

I'd take the 400 for anything, except floods and riots, at least for 1080. The HVX200 will look noticably fuzzier, and have worse low-light performance. Depth of field would be greater with the HVX, which might be a bonus. A proper HVX kit isn't small, anyway.

If you were going out to SD, then I'd say leave the big guns at home.

My first concern is use what you are most confident using.
I had my HVX a looooong time before using it on a paying gig.

But as I get older, and shoots are becoming more run and gun now days, I REALLY like the HVX and compactness of all the gear.
Our BetaCam still gets used, but the HVX type cameras are making life easier, especially for traveling.

Last year we did a 5 State shoot and we used our BetaCam because I was more comfortable with it. I'd never do that now.
I wish you luck.
