HVX Transcode FCP or Firestore Playback

I'd like to be able to play a FCP 1080 timeline (or files from my FS100) and use the HVX as an output/monitoring device (ie. component 1080 out).

It is such a tease to be able to play back files on my FS100 and see them on the HVX LCD screen. But I can't find a config that outputs a 1080 signal via the HVX component connectors to my new HD monitor.

From what I can tell - and all the experiments I've tried - it does not seem possible. Unless of course I play the 1080 source from the P2 card.

I have a Kona in G5 but was trying to avoid purchasing a Matrox MXO for a more portable 1080 output setup on the Powerbook. Any ideas or geniuses out there?

Hi Chris!

I'm also interested in outputting DVCPROHD via firewire from FCP to the HVX and monitoring thru the component outputs on the cam. I was about to start testing. Any luck so far?
 
Barry is correct. Panny really crippled the Firewire port, not sure why.

I use my Powerbook for larger screen playback in the field with my FS-100. You just plug the DV port into your computer and play as if you were playing right off a camera.

The only two drawbacks of the FS-100 are no thumbnails in the HVX LCD, and no compoent HD output from the Firewire port.
