I've used my 12" Apple with my DVX to record direct to the internal hard drive before via FCP.
It looks like you can do this with the HVX as well. I'm curious if anyone has tried this with the HD and DVCPRO50 formats. Especially, I am interested in going out to a 500Gb LaCie drive. The drive could be attached via USB 2.0. Is the bandwidth on firewire from the camera and USB 2.0 to the disk sufficient for HD and DVCPRO50 recording without dropouts?
My main interest is in:
1. In-the-field capture to a hard drive without buying a Firestore just yet.
2. In the studio capture for chromakey.
By the way ... which format is better for chromakey going out to NTSC video --- DVCPRO50 or HD?
Thanks for your advice and ideas.
