HVX Timelapse!?!

Given all the other crazy / great frame rates, downcoversions, formats, etc.....

I'd like to know if the HVX will be able to do true timelapse in the progressive formats: 1080P, 720P, 480P?

I would assume there would be a way to do this given the way the P2 writes data, but I'd like some clarification on the matter. Since it will be able to do all sorts of *in-between* frame rates.....I would think it could also do all sorts of Timelapse rates as well like : 1 frame per second, 1 frame every 5 seconds, 1 frame every 30 seconds...etc., etc., etc.

Barry, Jarred, any of our *FrontLine* troops at NAB?

Forgot to ask. Sure seems possible. I know they mentioned interval recording to DV tape in the press release, which seems ... backwards...

Howdy Barry,

Glad you're out there getting all the info - when you find a moment, is it possible to find out from them if the HVX has intervolometer type controls for stop motion (record 1 frame at a time). You're right, it seems silly that it would record intervals to tape - but neglects to mention p2.

Does the SPX800 have intervolometer type functions?

Thanks again

Dillon

On a P2 capable camera I think you could probably bet your bottom dollar that it would have a timelapse function. Its one of the features of all NLE style cameras I have come across. Though as always I could be wrong :-)

I am most concerned about getting really good / true timelapse. Like for nature stuff, sunsets, skylines, city streets, etc. I think that stuff is soooo cool.

At the Toronto DVXUser group meeting a couple of weeks ago, they were showing the SPX800. They mentioned time-lapse when recording to P2 cards, so I would expect it should possible with HVX200 as well.

for great timelapse, i use a digital still camera...any of the digital SLR cameras work great, and they've gotten really cheap.

then just get this little box for it...and you've got a tiny rig that shoots better time lapse than any video camera in the world...plus if you get crazy...you can do a frame for frame 2K film out and take that into telecine...good stuff...

And you'd think that timelapse would be able to be frame accurate, without having to record extra frames that you won't use. i.e. "One frame every 10 seconds please Mr HVX!"

forgot to ask... I'll try to remember to ask tomorrow. If Jack or Noah or Jarred or anyone else out here remembers, try to post it here!
