I am thinking of aquiring a tablet

I want to know the specs/recommendations for the Tablet
-- PCI slot for P2 cards
-- what NLE?
-- can I stream into it with a 5400 rpm drive

The problem with tablets is that they don't have a lot of horsepower. You need a pretty powerful cpu to play back HD realtime in p2 viewer and even more so to edit in HD. Edius seems to be the NLE that most like with P2 due to the ability to edit natively. You can contact them and they will tell you the minimum specs required.

Yeah, I thought so, but I am not familiar with Tablets, though I may have to procure one anyway,

There are a number of tablet PC appearing with Dual core processors which are pretty fast.

Toshiba Tecra M7
Portege M400
Fujitsu Lifebook T4210
 
depends what you are using it for, remember to consider amount and speed of RAM and video card. Also make sure it has a pcmcia
 
I always thought that a fast tablet PC would be the way to go for this application myself. Even for other cameras, using DVrack or something. This tool seems to make the most sense for this application, instead of a conventional laptop.

:::sigh::: Well, thanks a lot, David. Now I WANT one of those too. Just what I need--ANOTHER multiple-thousand dollar toy to pine for!
