HVX straight to a DVC Pro Deck...?

I don't have the manual in front and a fella just asked me if you can record straight to a DVC ProHD Deck directly out of the camera (as in...not recording to miniDV or to the P2 card...straight out of the camera "live" onto a deck).

And if so, what formats and frame rates are available?

Thanks

D

Yes you can.
As far as I know - every format and frame rate is available EXCEPT for the 720 PN modes. The deck requires a full 100mbs stream (which includes the duplicate frames the PN mode strips out).

Are you sure? I don't think so. What cable would you use to go
from the camera to the DVCPRO HD deck?

The HVX200 doesn't have an SDI output.

?

I guess I should have clarified - only through Firewire (as Barry already pointed out).
Granted, not all DVCProHD decks have Firewire inputs on them (at least they didn't last time I checked - but maybe they do now).

OKAY - so I just checked Panasonic's website, and it seems that MOST of the decks do have Firewire input (at least as an option).

The AJ-HD1700 seemed to be the only DVCProHD capable deck that did not offer it.
Just FYI.
