HVX stop motion

I have an HVX 200a I'm trying to do stop motion with the camera. I want to be able to push the record button without shaking the camera. The infrared remote works but I want something a little faster and convenient. I know there is a remote to control the iris and other functions, but I just need to control the start/stop for recording. If a simple external record button is not available it seems like an easy hack to make a homemade switch if I could find the plug that goes into the camera. Any suggestions?
 
Any DVX remote control will work for start-stop. If you dig around in the older posts here I think you'll even find where someone built their own DIY version for like $10 worth of radio shack parts.

I just went to Radio Shack and bought a 3/32 jack. I put a momentary-contact switch that allows stop-motion. The jack has three contacts, you want to make the tip and the base wire touch to make the camera record.
