HVX Sound Problems

I was hoping someone help me solve a mystery. With my lav mic I had some problems getting proper modulated sound on HVX and then I tweaked the settings and it resolved it

Yesterday I did a shoot where there was lav mic provided by client and same problem occured. Is there a particular audio setting on camera that needs to be adjusted?

I have live dance performances for 1 week straight. If anyone can let me know what should be the settings on sound board and my camera, it be great

Thanks

Make sure your line/mic switches on the front of the camera are in the correct positions to match the output settings of your microphone or audio mixer. Also check your input settings on the left side of the camera under the LCD.

thx for ur reply jim

input under lcd are fine. When I am getting a live feed via xlr i have selected mic

can't find option in menu to match it.

should it be line or mic...technically it should be mic

please let me know

line mic switch is on the front right by the xlr inputs. if coming from a sound board you probably need line assuming the board is feeding line levels out.

yup i knew where the mic and line option were on the camera :) but i meant i couldn't find it in menu as mention by jim

oh sorry :) I dont think there are any options in the menu. Except for the -50/-60 selection I think they are all hard buttons and switches.

- what problems are you having again? I'm not sure what you mean by modulation problems.

ok so to clear it up i when being given xlr feed wireless or wired..must be on linein

what about agc setting in menus. does it need to be on or off

I'd turn AGC off - if I remember right its just a limiter that caps you signal from going over 0 db and its a pretty crude limiter at that. Its not a auto level control as found on many consumer cameras.

as for line vs mic it depends on where you get your xlr feed :) you can send line level or mic level out of lots of devices just depends on how its setup. I know on my g2's I can just crank the output down to mic level if I really wanted to. I believe some mixers also have this ability. So it just depends. Start out at line level and if its too quiet, switch to mic :)
