HVX seen at VidXPo

Hi all-

There is a video expo right up the street from where I live, and when I stopped in there this morning, Panasonic had a booth and there it was, the HVX on a tripod.

Not powered, but it isn't a cardboard mock-up at this point, either. It was a metal case, with all the switches, knobs, and lenses you'd expect.

I am going to try to get some time off from work tomorrow to go there and snap some pics, as well as talk to the one of the engineers responsible for the design of his new camera. If you have questions you want to ask, post 'em here today so I can jot 'em down and seek answers.

Stay tuned!

I live down the road in Colorado Springs, and remember the year the DVX came out I got my first look at a working model at this expo. At NAB earlier that year all I saw was just a mock-up, so some pretty speedy work from Panasonic to make the DVX happen so quick. Which is why I'm not concerned with the tight time frame between now and December.

Still, I bet the HVX on display is barely a shell and lens. See if it rattles when you pick it up. :)

Don't worry about it. I was there yesterday and the model that they had on display was definitely the mock up. I talked to the rep and he said that indeed it was not real. It did look good though.

There were lots of people hanging around the JVC HD100, but I think the crowd thinned a little when I started pointing out stuck pixels on the big screen that they were showing the output on!

Was there any split screen problems at the JVC both? And what did JVC do about you pointing out stuck pixels?

That's hilarious!
:)

I didn't see any split screen stuff. One of the reps did something with the camera that made the stuck pixels go away. I'm not sure what he did, but the image didn't look as good afterwards.
