HVX scene file editor program

Just wondering if any software guru has designed a GUI editor interface to change HVX scene file settings? I used to use an applet by Bluesky for XL2 scene files. What would be cool is an interface that you can simply type the setting numbers into fields; maybe even with a caption that explains what the setting is for convenience (like what the heck does detail coring do??). That way you could easily store hundreds on your computer and have a collection of SD cards that you can bring an arsenal of files along. It's a pain to do this on camera. If somebody has designed this count me in to get it.

You can save scene files on an SD card and just alter the text files on that. It's really not that hard and I don't think having a special program would be much easier than editing the text file.

So do you just edit the actual setting numbers? What about the other cryptic numbers to the left of the semicolon; ignore those right?

No, the stuff to the left of the semicolon is the actual setting. The stuff to the right of it is a comment.

OK. Well then this is completely not user friendly. I mean it is simple to edit in text editor but you have no idea what changes you're making. That's why a software interface like Bluesky would be a godsend. I'll go back to doing it all on camera unitl then.

I'd be happy to make a small scene file editor :) Whether or not that would be offered as a free tool for all P2 Genie customers or as a free program for all will depend on how much time it will take to make.

Send your scene files to tony at p2genie dot com and I'll give it a go in the coming week.

All your scene files are belong to me ;-)

Actually I don't have a ton of presets made which is part of why I would want this. My interest is the editor interface. If you can check out the Blue barn link and you'll see what I mean. Thanks for takng an inetrest Tony!

Blue Barn is a great program as well, much more simple but easy. Most all the pre-sets being used with it are actually mine =o)

ash =o)

I am willing to write such a program for Windows to do the editing if many are interested. This will my contribution to the DVXUser.com and to panasonic. However, if I would so something like this, I would need the community support in two things:

1) Beta Testing

2) More importantly: Specification for the scene file. What are the possible fields and what are the possible values.

Let me know if you guys are interested.

PS. it will be for free

Scene files are on the way, I sent you some for the US HVX and some for the EU HVX. I believe the Japanese HVX uses a slightly different file too (near as I can tell the only change is in the letter/letters after HVX200 in the first few lines).

What would be fantastic (I'm writing here as a Mac user who would also love a native app like that), would be the ability to have a sample file (we have a Marcie in post-production for calibration purposes) where you could see the changes. This would obviously require the implementation of LUT's though, and I couldn't see this happening untill a version 2.

yours wishfully
