HVX resolution in standard..?

Hi Guy's,

Can anyone tell me..........

If shooting on the HVX200 at 24p in standard def, (on mini DV), will this be higher resolution than the DVX 100 at 24p ?

or.........does anybody know what size chips, pixel count, in the HVX.

Cheers

it will be same resolution. DV ..DVCPRO 25 and DVCPRO 50 are all 720x480. however the image clarity and other issues remain yet to be seen. one advantage would be the naitive 16:9 in SD mode. and obviously the DVCPRO 50 mode would have advantages in color fidelity and likely image clarity as well do to cleaner lines and more defined contrast than DV and DVCPRO 25's 4:1:1 compression can handle. the lense on the HVX200 being HD quality should offer some improoved imaging, as well as any new gama curves and CCD or prism improovments. ... really it all remains to be seen though.

its 1/3" chips.. this is right on panasonics website

http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?displayTab=O&storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&itemId=93120&catGroupId=14571&modelNo=AG-HVX200&surfModel=AG-HVX200

pixel count ? .. it will be enough to do the job and do it well and likely no more. perhaps 960x720 using pixel shift for maximum dynamic range while maintaining full resolution aquisition? barry green has suggested that (..if i got the numbers right there), and has some good reading for you in a thread somewhere in the HVX forum here.. try serching on HVX CCD or something.

Thanks Neil,

Am I mistaken, I thought the DVCpro modes were only available when using the costly
P2 cards...!
So your saying the HVX camera records in DVCPRO 25 & 50 on to mini DV..?

Daz

sorry darren, to be clear.. i didnt see you had the (on mini DV) there before..

the DVCPRO modes do not record to mini DV.. you can record then to P2, laptop using HDrack, NLE or other software over 1394, DVCPRO deck over 1394, Firestore HD over 1394, Desktop using HDrack, NLE, or other software over 1394, or out through the analog outputs to any compatable analog capture device.
