I have a job I am biding for and I will be working with a jib operator. I want to use HVX on his jib. He tells me that the HVX need a cable to hook up to his jib so he can control the focus and zoom from his controls. He feels that the HVX does not have the ability to do this.

He says that his SONY camera has a cable called a "L-Link"? He told me to reseacch if the HVX has this abilty.

Does anyome know if this is possiable with the HVX or has had experiance with this.

Thanks in advance!!

The Sony products use "LANC" protocol. The HVX doesn't use LANC, but does have the same capability to use remote zoom/focus/iris remote controls. Look at remotes from Zoe, VariZoom, and Manfrotto.

Wait Barry. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you. Are you saying the HVX does not sell a remote that plugs into the camera? I know that there is the wireless remote. But nothing in the field of the LANC for the HVX?

LANC is simply a single protocol of wired remote control... panasonic has thier own flavor of choice (admittedly dont recal its name). i use the bebob zoe and foxy products to control my HVX/HPX on my jib and they work great.

You can buy/rent a wired remote for the HVX cheaper than you could rent a Sony camera. Barry mentioned the models. Zoe from Bebob. Varizoom sells the PZFI which is nice. Manfrotto makes one as well.
