HVX, Redrock Micro35, Canon 28mm, and a model

The following stills were captured with my HVX/Micro35/Canon 28mm combo. the purpose of the test was to see if I could get a 'Large as Life" look buy favoring low angles and very close shots. Although it's not a macro lens, the 28mm F/1.8 lens (~$400) can focus down to 10 inches, which seemed to do the trick.

My Canon lens driver is not quite right, so the lens was set at F/3.5 which was not right for some of the shots. Also had trouble seeing the HVX's screen in the blazing Southern sun, so some of the focus is off.

I am planning a 2nd unit effort that will create a battle between 2 HumVees and a Fast Attack Vehicle against an Al Queida convoy. I am planning on spoofing some dialog from "Flight of the Intruder" and "Full Metal Jacket", but the point is to make the battle look life sized. The scene is used to introduce a trio of 13 year olds that are obcessed with the military and way too smart for their own good.

If I were to color correct these images I would probably just pull out a little red to make the clay look more like sand. Nothing too radical, as I do want the scene to feel 'hot'.
