HVX Randomly Starts Recording

Hi, wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this. My HVX intermittently just starts recording and the only way to make it stop is to turn it off. No other buttons are functional when this happens. I'll turn it back on and again it will immediately start recording. If I remove the battery for awhile the problem seems to go away for temporarily. I have tried resetting the camera several times as well as upgrading the firmware. Thought I would see if anyone had any ideas while i wait for a call from tech support.

do you have any devilsih friends that are always around when this happens? Maybe someone took the remote and is messing with you?

I haven't heard of this before, but someone else here must have.
 
Try turning REMOTE CONTROL in the OTHER FUNCTIONS menu OFF. I never use my remote, and I don't want some random IR signal from another source to mess with my camera.

Is there anything plugged into the camera when this happens, either a camera controller or a Firewire cable?
 
No, nothing else plugged in, i just turn on the power and it starts recording and won't stop. Remote function is off. Maybe the camera just really wants to be recording. Will be dropping if off for service on Monday as I need it for an upcoming 10 day shoot.

Nothing at ALL is plugged into it? only time I saw this was when
I was assisting a DP and he plugged his bebob focus unit into the camera..

any stuck buttons? spill anything on it? drop it? anything?
 
Took the camera in to Panasonic for service. They replaced the battery compartment and record switch, have been shotting for four days with no return of the problem.
