HVX ...r.i.p

I know how you feel. I'm holding on to mine for the moment, but after just a few shoots with the AF-100 I am already wondering when I would ever use it again.

hey... mine is about to go on trademe at the same price.. few more cards, few more hours too..

maybe i'll wait until yours sells.

Thanx Joe.

If mine gets rushed out the door quickly (hopefully) ...it will give you an indication how well it was priced (or otherwise) and what sort of demand there is.

Keep a watch on it. Happy to share the auction info with you.

Sold my HPX w/ 16gig P2 card on ebay for $2,850 2 weeks ago. I'll miss the little bugger, but I will not miss paying $1,200+ for $50 worth of memory cards.

I was able to get $2200.00 for my HVX200 on Ebay. I just listed my HPX300 with (2) P2 16gig cards, (2) batteries, and a new black Portabrace soft case for starting bid $6800.00 or Buy now $7400.00.

After my expereince yesterday trying to use my AF in a true run and gun situation, I. Know I will NOT be selling my HVX. The AF is, as Jan herself said, not an ENG camera. But if they'd just put iso function on the shutter wheel, it would have been a much better shoot. Makes no sense for that wheel to only be for shutter.

I think I'll make more money keeping my HPX170 than selling it, even if it has to share time with the AF100. I've already earned enough with it for it to "pay for itself", and I still have cause to use it on a regular basis (just got hired to do an hour of pick-ups for a project my friend started before moving out of state).

Just for the record in case anyone is confused over the price :

The HVX I am selling is priced in NZ dollars. Big difference in exchange rates between USD and NZD

Two weeks ago I had to hike several miles into a forest in the rain to get some footage of a particular patch of mushrooms. 500's too heavy, so I took the 200 and a relatively light tripod.

Didn't worry about the torrent, didn't have to lug anything but the camera and the tripod. Fell in a muddy hole once but didn't panic that I might have trashed a valuable camera.. Footage is beautiful, dark leaves blowing violently in the wind and raindrops nearly obscuring the grove.. No one screamed and pointed at the screen and complained about noise or resolution... I'm keeping mine.

My Panasonic HPX300 sold yesterday for $6250.00 camera + Lens + (2) Ikan Batteries still have a lot of accessories to sell on Ebay. I'm Happy!

The prices on the HVX have really fallen fast. it is amazing how fast they approaching DVX prices. They were great cameras but the low light sensitivity really hurt them.

Agreed. Even the GH1/2 is better for ENG in this aspect.
