HVX Questions

Okay i´m thinking about getting an HVX, but of course for the price, there are some questions:

1. Can i film variable frame rates in SD (DV tapes)?

2. Where can i still get p2 cards?

3. Are there Pal and NTSC p2 cards or are they the same for both versions?

4. the MacBookPro has a slot, do the p2 cards fit in there? or can i just import from the camera?

would be great if someone could answer this.

thanks,

gabriel

Okay i´m thinking about getting an HVX, but of course for the price, there are some questions:

1. Can i film variable frame rates in SD (DV tapes)?
no, that option is only available using P2-720p modes

2. Where can i still get p2 cards?
Still?? search! the web.. Where are you located?

3. Are there Pal and NTSC p2 cards or are they the same for both versions?
they're the same for both versions

4. the MacBookPro has a slot, do the p2 cards fit in there? or can i just import from the camera?
you can import them from the camera (firewire); MacBookPro has an express card slot; you can use it with an adapter; search: dual adapter; P2 cards (PCMCIA) fit with the dual adapter

1. Can i film variable frame rates in SD (DV tapes)?
No, and yes. You have to film VFR in 720p modes to the P2 cards, but then you can execute a realtime downconversion to tape and it'll preserve the variable frame rates.

2. Where can i still get p2 cards?
Not sure what you mean by "still get" -- they're not discontinued, if that's what you're asking. They're hard to find because there's a lot of demand and not so much supply, but call around to dealers and you'll probably find someone who has some in stock.

3. Are there Pal and NTSC p2 cards or are they the same for both versions?
Same.

4. the MacBookPro has a slot, do the p2 cards fit in there? or can i just import from the camera?
The MBP needs to use the Duel Adapter, or you can import directly from the camera.
