HVX Progressive Modes

Ran some tests recently out of the camera directly to a high end hd lcd tv. (via component cable)

Stuff looked great but when we went to the p modes the monitor still read the imagery as 1080i. A little curious unless everything comes out over 60 frames.

Does the hvx do all it's progressive modes like 720 24p or 720 30p over 60 i?

I know firewire can only handle output and input via 60 frames. Can someone explain more?

Enjoy the holiday weekend... (remembering those who served)

The recording modes are totally independent of the video output signal that you use with a component video connection. The camera can output anything it has recorded in either 480i, 720P, or 1080i -- you just need to set the output format correctly to match what your TV is expecting (AV IN/OUT -> CMPNT OUT SEL).

I get that the modes of recording are independent. What I'm saying is that we changed the recording modes as we were viewing the footage on the monitor . even though the av in out setup was selected as comp out we, the monitor's info still displayed the
imagery as 1080i despite our recording mode being 720 24p.

When hooking up the dvd player to the same component input and playing a dvd the display info changed to a p mode.

We weren't viewing recorded clips.

Thus my confusion.

Please re-read what I wrote -- the component output video format that the camera uses is independent of the recording format. If you want to send a progressive video signal to the monitor, you must configure the camera to do so.

Bring up the menu, go to AV IN/OUT, select CMPNT OUT SEL, then choose whatever format you would like to send to the monitor.
