HVX problems capturing TAPE footage

Havent had this problem until today. I am trying to ingest footage from mini dv tapes and it keeps pausing and giving me the timecode break message. I am using the HVX as a deck and I tried importing footage that I have imported before and get the same thing on every tape. It plays fine in the Log and Capture mode of FCP2 but wont ingest the footage....
any thoughts?

I have been advised not to use my HVX as a deck, as you can wear out the heads if you do it frequently. I ended up buying a cheap miniDV cam (240 Euros) to use as a deck, and it works fine.
