HVX on HBO Again

Hello everyone.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I am working on another 24/7 show on HBO using the HVX. It's a four-part reality series called "Mayweather - Hatton 24/7". Starting tomorrow we are going to follow both boxers for a month using 2 Varicams and 2 HVXs.

The first show airs November 18th at 10PM. You can see a tease for the show on HBO's site. (click on sports on the left side then click 24/7)

Check out the show and let me know what you think.

Thanks in advance.

If it is anything like "Mayweather-De La Hoya 24/7" I'm sure it will be amazing. Great gig!

Are you using a cinema adapter with the HVX, or just stock lens?

I watched your first "24/7" shoot. I will be sure to catch the next, and try to pick out those well-blended hvx shots. Great that they are having you shoot it again. They must be pleased with your work, and why wouldnt they be? Was a great job.

Will you be shooting the mayweather side of things again?

Yeah it is the same show (and pretty much the same crew) as "Mayweather-De La Hoya". But I have to tell you, from what I have seen from the other camp (Hatton), it is pretty damn funny. I am with Mayweather again. As for the lens, I am using a century optics .75 wide and the 2X telephoto. Great lens' but they are heavy as hell.

Just a reminder... First show airs tonight at 10pm EST. I saw a rough cut and there is a bunch of P2 footage. See if you can spot them and let me know what you think.

Thanks

This show was great by the way - was the Hatton footage shot with the same setup as Mayweather? Was there one VariCam and one HVX per camp? I saw in the credits one DP and three additional photographers - who was where (before Hatton got to Vegas)?

I honestly could not pick out which shots were VariCam and which were HVX during the training scenes that were intercutting A and B cameras. The difference is slightly more pronounced when you see the quality of the interviews and some of the tracking shots of empty gyms, the MGM floor, etc (which were clearly VariCam), but it all works together very well.

Hatton/Cotto 24/7 next?

Would also love to see one on Pavlik/Taylor Part II, but probably not a big enough draw... Not that you get to decide, unfortunately!!
