We shot this a while ago and just finished it. It was all shot with the HVX and the M2 adapters.
Check it out let me know what you think. If you don't have a sub hooked up some of the edits may look funny because it's cut to the bass in some parts.

it's about 88mb so it's big it may take a second to load.

Why doe's he think he's black? Because he raps? I love these closed-minded comments. That's why I posted this, to get your opinion on the music scene. I needed to know what you thought about white people rapping. Thanks....

i liked the way the footage turned out. it looks clean and above average for a rapper without a deal (i'm assuming he's unsigned). editing was tight too. i think the concept was pretty typical though. rapper surrounded by groupies in swimming pool, etc.

were you the director or DP on this? overall good job.

Yeah, take us through the process of casting. What exactly do you say to the girls when you are searching for/casting them? (obviously not: I hope you enjoy being treated as a whore..) I'm not trying to make fun, just honestly wondering. Let us in on your psychological tactics a bit. How do you make this seem like something a girl would want to do?
Or, quite simply, did you just pay them? How do you direct these perfomances once you have them at the pool or wherever? "Just lie in a lump and writhe while this guys sings over his playback.." Is that all you have to do?
Please give us as many insights as possible.

Yes! Yes! And you are welcome! Don't get all worked up facts is facts. I could easily say the same thing about rock but there are less black rockers now than there were 30-100 years ago. Nuthin racial just the way things turn out. And what I said isn't closed minded it comes from experience with other 'white' friends I have just like the kid you have in your music video. :2vrolijk_08:

"Why do you walk like a white person when your black? And why do you talk white?" - Jamie Fox as Tookie in "Redemption".

Probably the stupidest piece of dialog in a film ever.

And of course, the biggest prenounced paradox of all time: "It doesn't matter if your black or white" - Michael Jackson.

Sorry about that :)

Again!! Not implied. Try to stay on the same page. BTW The actual video wasn't bad, actually it was pretty good. BWTF ever.

"BWTF ever" is right... I didn't mean for this to turn into a racial thing. I used to post here a lot, I have learned a ton from this site and I find myself coming back for advice from time to time. I don't care if you don't like "white people rapping" I posted this video to get some opinions on the shooting and the editing. I don't care what your thoughts are on "white boy rappers" if I did I would have found some controversial racial site and posted this video there to see what they thought.
I did this video as a favor for a friend of a friend. It's not my only gig but thanks for wishing me the best for a better gig.
I see that this site will always have those people that read post's just to find grammar errors and then post about that and not about the technical aspescts of the video. I see this as the same. Some guy posts his opinion about "white rappers" and not what he thinks about the technical side of the video.
As for the girls... I didn't direct this video and I did not cast this video. They were all pretty willing to do whatever was asked of them. If you want to call them shallow fine... but again I didn't post this video on a feminist website now did I? So I wasn't really looking for that either, thanks though because I will pass this along to them so they can get their morals in check.
I can't wait to post my next piece on a gay black country singer. That should stir up the boards, huh?

i saw this coming a mile away after the first reply. opinions are like a$$holes, everybody has one. take what you find useful and flush the rest.

being as nobody else commented on your work i guess its safe to assume it's all good. :undecided

Dude, I was just joking around :)
But sorry for the inconvenience I caused, the vid looks good.

Okay really, can't we all just get along???? LOL

The shots are good and the filters are fun. The song was okay. The girls... okay. But, you got them and they did do the "make it clap" dance so you successfully did what the genre asked for.

To finish, people are going to watch the video for what you did and not for the artist or the girls. But, who cares? They are going to watch it and that is good for you!

side note: One has to look at the run of the mill rap videos like one would look at Grindhouse... it's a genre. It is distinct. It calls for specific things. Like it or not it is what it is.

I myself can't stand rap music, let alone vanilla ice wannabe's but thats not why I'm here. I'm here to learn and have a subjective opinion in the work that I see. That being said I thought the video looked really good. Nice shots and a good flow, But I agree with Mike, these things are a dime a dozen and they all seem to follow the same chemistry, rapping, girls, bling bling blah. But you did it well and I'm looking forward to seeing more work in a different area from you :)

Its easy to get girls for these videos, everybody wants to be famous. Every girl on Myspace/blackplanet etc is a "model". And realistically, if you are a good looking woman that does not fit the ford model angency size criteria (98% of women) where do you model? Car magazines and rap videos. I can't be mad at Melyssa Ford for earning 20k a video, cause Vanity Fair ain't givin' her the cover with that Apple Bottom.

That said he could be blue, black, white or cream of corn, i'm so sick of rap I had to watch this with the sound off. Good editing and composition on the roof shots though.
