HVX+M2 film wrapped

Yeah!
Everyone's blasting in this one, even the little girl! Wheee!
This is the best-lit, best exposed and best lensed (quality of optics) from the HVX I've seen. It makes the HVX look like it has higher dynamic range than it actually does. You must have been very careful in your setups. Can't wait to see a motion sample! Good DPing!!

Thank you very much! It really means a lot to hear that. Setups were very quick but I knew what I wanted. The club was tough as the HVX, already being a light hog, and the M2, which was another light hog, gave me an ASA/ISO of 64! LOTS of lights were needed! Once I can get a hold of the footage of the car blowing up, I'll put some stills of that up. Since it's in post now I'm limited as to video files.

To answer the lens question, I used 3 lenes primarily. 35mm, 50mm and 85mm. Shot mostly wide open. Some shots required more movement so I gave my 1st AC a mercy-stop or two here and there.

Once more footage is available, I'll let you know. Thanks again.

Edit: I need to correct my first post.....this IS raw camera footage BUT I noticed my webpage program scaled them down a little. Just wanted to make sure that was clear. :)

The only way they could get more realistic is if a bullet was coming out of it. They are real guns firing blanks. The blanks are packed with the same amount of powder a real bullet would have. We had the same man who worked on Desperado (and many other films), Bob Shelley, handling all our firearms. He also blew up our car. :) That was FUN!!!

That's some pretty footage you have there, were you using a monitor? If so, which one? I really like the lighting and composition, can't wait for the trailer, film, merchandise.. :)

Keep up the good stuff

Looks like you should've asked instead of telling, right?

Great stills y'got goin' on there. Post when you've got it up on the net. I'd like to see more work that's coming out of SCAD. =)

Thank you very much everyone for your comments! This is the first time I have ever put any of my work out for public scutiny. It's really inspiring and motivating to do more. I appreciate the time you took to look and respond.

So the lttle girl takes revenge in the end?
GREAT images!
How is your budget, if I may ask?

Budget......gone. :) The producer knows for sure. Most of it was tied up in getting the actors here and providing for them as well as Mr. Shelly to provide firearms/blanks/squibs/and explosives for the car. We did have sponsors providing wardrobe/food/locations. Since I owned the camera gear that was not part of the budget. It was made for less than $15,000 I would guess.

Here is the HVX/M2 setup we used.

let´s see you focusing!
seriously, didn´t you really have a FF?

Nope..no follow focus. My 1stAC had some primo pulls using the lens with about 6 inches of DoF. Of course not every take was usable but most were spot on. :)
