HVX-m2-BlueScreen

Hi All,

I would like to know if anyone out there has pulled an optimal key using HVX+m2 adapter. I understand that the shallow DOF can be a problem, but what about using wide lens(like12mm) and smaller aperatures like f4+. I need the wide rectiliner imaging possible with 35mm lnes focal length and also clean edges for keying. I don't have an HVX m2 combo to test myself. I have seen great keys pulled with varicam and pro35. My understanding ,however, is that the m2 may make a softer image than the P+S Pro35.

Thanks,

Shallow DOF is a problem if you are keying something. You need sharp edges.
A 12mm? If it's a 35 lens, that's almost a fisheye. If you use that, you will not have rectilinear, but curved lines due to the wide angle.

To my knowledge, a 35mm lens is no more "rectilinear" than a video lens. Go wide enough, and both will distort. I've shot 35mm with wide lenses near actors' faces, and you get the same warped, evil Captain Kirk distortion.

Try shooting with just the HVX for the sharpest results (best for keying).
When you greenscreen, your DOF can be tweaked in post. (add gaussian blur on certain layers as needed)
