HVX green screen bank commercial

im downloading the video , glad to see that 3d integrates well with the hvx, im about to order my hvx and i do 3d compositing with video as well for spots. I use 3dmax though, cant wait to see the vid!

Outstanding stuff!

Interestingly, the only effects work I didn't like was the particles (the skiier's breath, the candle smoke). I felt they were too dense and drew too much attention to themselves. I found that particularly odd considering the outstanding quality of the rest of the spot.

Great stuff. It made me want to get an account with that bank.

I am sure it went something like this:

Jim: Ok here is the render with the cold breath added.

Agency: Looks OK Jim but it seems to subtle, can we punch
it up a bit more to make it look really cold?

Jim: (30 minutes later) OK here is more breath.....

Agency: I don't know I just don't get the impression
that it is cold enough, maybe we need to add some
falling snow in?

Jim: I could do that for another $5000??

Agency: No the client is already ragging us about the
3 course meals for lunch, let's add more breath and
we PROMISE that will be it!

Jim: (Wispering to himself) You want cold breath
I will give you cold breath....
(40 minutes later)

Jim: OK here is the breath, and it looks really cold....

Agency: I don't know...it seems like it covers his face too much,
do you have a different take of the skier where is head is turned more??????????????????????????????????????????????????

Jim: ARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing! Simply great. Good thing I was sitting down when I watched this 'cause I would've fallen on my a$#! My partner and I are in the process of buying into HD and your video clinched the sale towards the HVX200. Another thing, thanks for being such a great guy and also posting the rough cut. Some of us are trying to learn from any source and it's people like you that really make an impact. I am soooooo excited to see what truly can be accomplished. At the end of the day, it's not the arrow but the Indian and you my friend have a lot of talent! Keep up the good work!!!

why do you think he would need Maya or 3DS Max for this?

BTW: Modo does have animation capabilities now. I'm in the same boat as you. Been using LW for 13 years.

Hey Jim,
i am late to this party but would love to see the shots. Are they still hanging about somewhere? Also, how goes the moco stuff?
cheers.

Hi Doug, what a blast from the past with this thread! I think the links at the start of the thread are still active and working after all these years (at least on PC + Firefox browser) but if you can't get them let me know and I'll figure something out.

Still having fun with the moco project, always rebuilding and rethinking. Slow going right now because of a massive long project this fall. Doug, send me a private message through this forum with your e-mail and I'll fill you in on all the details!

Your Facebook motion control group is terrific and I check it once a week at least. I highly recommend it to everyone interested in the art and craft.

Talk soon,

Jim Arthurs

Ah Jimmy, you're too kind. Back on point, the links seem to not work for me. The reason I would like to see them is I went out and bought myself a replacement HXV and I'm really curious about these clips, since they are GS. I want to use mine with my moco rig.

Cheers Jim.

Ah, I get it! Well you're in luck then... here's a test I did when I first got my HVX200... In this case I was running the component out of the HVX into a VelocityHD NLE system and recording HD uncoompressed... but I found the native camera recorded files to be generally pretty good as well...

The file download links on that page should still work, even though it's old, old, old... I'll bundle up the other bank commercial examples you can't grab and send them to you directly.

Regards,

Jim Arthurs
