I have searched, but didn't find everything.
So far I have found:

CineV
Detail -3
Chroma +2
Master ped -2
Matrix normal

what about the thick/thin and other more specific settings?

I would like to see a few peoples full list of optimal green screen settings.
I have a shoot this weekend!

thnx

I'm sure there are other opinions, but you are fine with what you have stated. You are on the money for everything I set for greenscreen shoots.
The thick or thin depends on your subject matter, i.e. closeup of talent etc. Even then it's subjective.

I was one of those who "viewed" but since you covered my settings so perfectly I didn't bother to say you should be fine.
Best of luck.

Chroma Ped and Pedastel are not vital her, get a look you like. I think most people ride their pedastels too high. Ped at -4 gives you a "0" black in most cases and that's where it belongs.

Jim Arthurs has suggested -3 detail and shooting green screens as high as 65 IRE to lower the noise (but blue screens at 35 IRE!). You might have to add sharpening later in post.
I just shot one at -1 (the director was afraid to go to -3) and the screen at about 50 - 55. I haven't heard how the key cut yet.

I believe Thick & thin are irrelevant in HD.

Institute of Radio Engineers. When referencing video in these contexts, it's a measure of brightness, typically from 0 to 109 or 110; may be from 7.5 to 110 depending on if you're using US NTSC with "setup."

Blue screen help needed

Blue screen help needed

I'm shooting my first blue screen this weekend.
Do the following settings apply for blue screen as well?

Detail -3
Chroma +2
Master ped -2
Matrix normal

This particular short will be shot on miniDV however i will shoot the blue screen scenes on 1080i, using a macbook pro and 'capture now' in final cut.
What is the best way to downconvert to SD after the blue screen effects have been done in 1080i?
I would greatly appreciate any advice
thanks,

Narayan, blue works very well indeed with the HVX.

You might experiment with the ped level while hooked up to FCP and watch the scopes to lower as much as possible without clipping. Put your blue around 35 to 40 IRE. HD Normal and Black Press are better to work with.

My advice is to use your HD foreground plates in an SD sized project if using AE or some other compositing application. You don't need to do your full VFX work at 1080 rez, it's a waste of render time and resources.

Green is better than blue, due to the color space compresion of HD, I have get better results with green (pure) fabric or Paint (Rosco Paint or Botero fabric Backdrop see B&H )
