SECAUCUS, NJ (July 10, 2006)
– Panasonic Broadcast announced that its high definition, solid state memory AG-HVX200 hand-held camcorder has received a bronze in the 2006 Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA) competition for the best designed product in business and industry. The IDEAs are co-sponsored by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and BusinessWeek Magazine and recognize exceptionally designed products that enhance quality of life and the economy.

The HVX200 DVCPRO HD camcorder was among six Panasonic products honored with an IDEA for exceptional design. Panasonic received more IDEAs than any other corporation or design firm in this year’s competition. The awards are featured in the July 10th issue of BusinessWeek Magazine and online at www.businessweek.com.

As the world’s first hand-held, high definition solid-state memory camcorder, the HVX200 was commended for its compact, portable design; multiple high definition and standard definition formats; and workflow-enhancing P2 technology. The camcorder was lauded as having the look “professional cameramen have been waiting for.”

“Panasonic is honored to receive a prestigious IDEA for the HVX200 and it’s a testament to the top-notch design and functionality customers can expect in our professional video products,” said John Baisley, President, Panasonic Broadcast. “The HVX200 is a breakthrough in design as it uniquely combines HD and SD formats, multiple recording modes and variable frame rates, and the vast benefits of P2 solid state recording in a rugged, compact design.”

Bronze?

Bronze?

Ha. What took them so long?

When I walked into the Pana booth at NAB 2005 and saw the incredible workflow and new vision of the "Wooden Camera", I gave them an award right then.....the "I'm going to buy this camera" award.

So now I've got an incredible camera with an incredible workflow (sorry to bring up Axio again)....and calling myself a Winner!

A well deserved award for a fantastic product. There isn't anything that can handle so many types of production jobs. Not to mention at a price that makes it a no brainer.

I still say Panasonic is practically giving this camera away so we all would buy into the P2 technology. This ain't no $6,000 camera!
It worked for me!:)

I love the camera wouldn't of bought anything else, and the camera just out performs anything near the price range. And I'm stocked to see the award but I think it is a good thing it wasn't judged on looks. It looks like a brick but a damn pretty brick and a brick that I am more then happy to have.

So just goose to show looks aren't everything

I am going to drink champagne tonight with my panny to celebrate it, then a nice diner, then more champagne, and then I take it to 'Pirates' so it can see the work of her big brothers and then who knows what will happen :)
