HVX footage....

When it's released.

This fall sometime probably. But hopefully sooner. Maybe they'll have a DVD, kind of like the Promax DVX DVD that Noah Kadner put together. That definitely sold me on the DVX.

yeah -=- it would be great even to see some video stills, let alone actual moving pictures. I gather that nobody has actually seen this camera working yet...

BTW -- I was just looking at DVX100 letterboxed material that I shot in Iraq blown up to HD resolution at a local color correction facility -- and even *that* looks amazing. If the pictures from the HVX200 are even half as good as I'm anticipating, it will change my entire life. Cheers, Panasonic.

I doubt there will be a DVD; since the biggest upgrade(s) from the DVX are HD acquisition (not displayable on a DVD) and P2 media (which doesn't have anything to do with the footage itself), a DVD wouldn't do any justice to showcase the huge strides they're taking with the camera.

If I remember correctly, the August footage timetable was a "best guess" based on the release cycle of the DVX100 when it first came out, not an official date.

What if it were a data DVD with just a few minutes of footage that you could pull into FCP. Or maybe a DVD with a profile piece and a data folder on the back-end.

Does anyone see this happening? Is that what the Promax DVX DVD was?

Cheers,
Chris

That's not what the Promax DVD was -- the ProMax DVD was a short film by Noah Kadner that was shot with the DVX and also the PD150, and then split-screened so you could see and compare the two.

Panasonic has already distributed a DVD with DVCPRO-HD footage on it, I believe it was released in conjunction with FCP-HD's release. So it seems reasonable that they may do something similar when HVX footage is available.

Yes ... that DVCPROHD footage DVD came with FCP HD. It'll give you an idea of the range of how HVX200 footage could be like (the footage was from a Varicam - not sure about the 1080i footage though).
