HVX Footage presentation

Shooting a set of commercials for a pest control company.. They want to show these commercials on an HD projector in a state that I don't live in..

What is the best way for me to get them the footage.. without renting an HD DECK.

What about sending them an external HD and having them patch it through a powerbook?

What if I made an .mov file, like the ones that we see on the web for HD previews and such.. then put it on a DVD, what quality would that be?

Any ideas?

If they've ever done this before, they will tell you what the deliverable should be. Playback will look better from a deck or appropriate HD server. I thought QT looked mediocre when Moviola played back my project with an iMac.

Here's my idea.. Playback using the POWERBOOK with FinalCut Pro, use the External video option for playback, and use the DVI cable to go from the laptop to the HD screen..

It looks great to me when I do it here.. It's not as easy as just hooking up the deck, but it sure as hell doesn't cost anything..

These people have never done an HD project, so they are looking to me for the answer...

Thanks for any help..

I think the two options are to play through FCP as you have suggested or to author an HD-DVD. The H.264 DVD could be played through any G5 or Intel Mac (note that you could not play it through a Powerbook G4). Or, if you did not need menus, you could create an MPEG-2 HD-DVD and play it on one of the Toshiba HD-DVD players directly into the projector. Of course, going from a deck or video server as Illya suggested is the best option (albeit more expensive unless you can somehow convince them that renting an HD1200A is the way to go... and build it into your quote).

Thank you all for the info.. I think the way through FCP is the most cost effective way to get the job done at the moment..

I'd love a deck, but they cant afford that..

I will let you all know how it goes.. :-)
