HVX doesn't show up on desktop

I know that this is just a newbie error. I just got my HVX over the weekend and did my first shoot with it today. I printed out Barry's instructions as to how to properly offload footage onto my MacPro. I downloaded P2CMS....I plugged my camera in and it doesn't show up.

I'm guessing I need a driver, but I went to download it from Panasonic's site and when I keep getting errors....

re: doesn't show up

I had already tried that site but when I go to install the driver, my Mac freezes on the restart.

I did figure out that the camera had to be in "PC" mode (again I just got the camera) and the P2 cards show up as "No Name" and won't let me rename them. I used P2CMS to copy all of the files to my HD but to be honest I'm confused at all the folders etc.

I tested out the footage in Final Cut Pro and got a bunch of error messages..the clip played but it was just the video clip that I selected. Isn't there a way to have the video and associated audio files come in together? Again I realize that this is most likley operatr error.

Also there is no option for "import P2" in my Final Cut options...is this because I can't install that driver?

Thanks in advance...

Did you put the camera into MCR mode and then press and hold the MODE button for another two seconds? Just having the drivers installed and a cable plugged in doesn't automatically make the P2 cards show up on your desktop.

Yea I put the camera in PC mode. The cards now show up as "No Name". I'm using FCP log and transfer mode to get the clips into FCP. I used P2CMS earlier to copy the files to a hard drive.

This process is brand new to me so I appreciate your help. I know I'll feel confident when I can finally reformat the original footage on the P2 cards!

usually if i'm in a limited time situation i'll open the card with p2cms, select all the clips and then export to a premade folder, project-p2-001, or something similar. this will copy the card to that folder. then when i have time i go and log and transfer those fliles with final cut. p2cms to me, is pretty much used for copying the clips and checking the clips.

i'll then back up my quicktime files to another hard drive and/or burn to a dvd.
