hvx device control for 24p dv

hey guys, i'm having a hell of a time importing 24p dv footage into final cut off my hvx. I shot 24p (not 24pa) letterbox (not squeeze). I'm wondering what to set my capture preset and device control preset to in final cut. i've tried a ton of different preset and custom settings. what's happening is i'm getting weird interlace artifacts and bizarre pixel aspect ratio issues as soon as i play the file outside of final cut. the interlacing is apparent inside final cut. and yes i have my capture preset advanced setting to progressive. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just use a normal "DV NTSC" easy set up. You only use the advanced 23.98 set up if you shot 24pa.

i'm pretty sure i tried that setup. isn't that for 29.97 footage or do i have to go in and edit the preset to 23.98. i'm just a little confused about where the interlacing is coming from. the sound and video playback at the right speed, but it looks horrible, and quicktime and after effects can't figure out the right pixel aspect ratio although final cut can. i've shot 24p dv footage to p2 cards before and that stuff was fine, but this is the first time i've shot to tape with the hvx and its giving me a headache. thanks though, i'll try that again.

Create a new project with DV NTSC easy set up and try capturing a piece of the footage again. DO NOT change the preset to 23.98. Just leave it at 29.97 as that is what you have on tape. The 24p mode scans the image progressivlely (for the film look) but lays it to an intrerlaced stream on tape.
