HVX Convergence Issue...

I had to send out our HVX200 for repair evaluation today. I observed an obvious color and tone shift from left to right in some recently acquired footage. I would not have noticed the issue had I not setup a EIA Resolution chart and Macbeth ColorChecker to compare resolution in deciding between 720 or 1080. Anyhow, I thought I would post what I found in case it could be an issue with more than just our camera.

I have attached a chart I made to compare detailed crops from left and right extremes. (FYI - These targets were evenly lit with a tungsten soft box in a darkened room and white balanced with Vortex white card.)

In this comparison chart, I start off with a cropped piece from the left and right side of a flat bed scan of the EIA chart for reference, then directly below it, you'll see the same detail from left and right sides of the HVX footage in both 1080 and 720. As you can clearly see, although the chart itself doesn't deviate in color from left to right... the HVX is recording two totally different values... light and warm on the left, dark and cool on the right.

Next, you see cropped pieces of the ColorChecker that show the left and right side issue clearly in the neutral gray and white chips on the chart. The "convergence" issue that I described to you is most apparent when you zoom in 4x as I did in the cropped pieces further right. Despite the obvious color differences between the white squares... on the left side pieces you can see the distinct red line bleeding from the edges, and on the right you can see the distinct blue line bleeding from the edges.

I'll update when I receive word on the evaluation. I sent it in right away because I only had a couple of days left on the Warranty.
