When it comes to audio, I know almost nothing. I know how to check my levels, and thats about it. So today I used my HVX for an assignment for my Production Sound class. I plugged one cardioid condenser into input 1, and a different type of mic (can't remember what kind, but it had a "figure 8" pick up pattern) into input 2.
I set both inputs to Mic, set both inputs on, set CH1 to input 1 and CH2 to input 2, set the levels right, and could hear the difference between the mics.
I know that the HVX records 4 channels, and I read that when CH1-Input1/CH2-Input, CH3/CH4 are from the onboard mic.
So I logged and transferred the clips from Final Cut Pro, then I imported one of the quicktime clips into Pro Tools. When I looked at the 4 tracks, each one had the exact same waveform.
Does the HVX combine all audio into 4 identical audio tracks? Or is there a way to record different audio to channels 1 and 2? What am I doing wrong?
