HVX Bummer

Panasonic recommends that you remove the battery from the camera after use. The reason stated is the camera still uses some power even with the camera off. (Page 124 in the Operation Instructions)

As a matter of course, I have always removed batteries from cameras when done a job. If the battery is out of the camera, there is no way it will be drained the next time I go to use it.

I ask because I always leave one of our 3 batteries in the camera mostly for storage space in the Pelican case.
I have never found the battery in the camera to be near dead after doing this???
But hey, there is always something new to learn.
If you're storing batteries, believe it or not, the best place for them is in the fridge, in a sealed plastic bag of course to keep moisture out.

Heat shortens the life of Li-Ion batteries, and keeping batteries in the fridge during non-use will make them last a long longer. That's where I keep my spare laptop batteries, in fact I learned all this after going through a lot of batteries too quickly.

If you keep the batteries in the fridge, be aware that when you take them out, you must keep them in the Ziploc bag and allow them to warm up to ambient temperature in the bag, which can take hours.

If you don't do that, then condensation will form on the batteries and anything that comes into contact with them, which is bad mojo for all electronics.
