HVX/Brevis Footage - Powerful stuff

Nice,

I met up with Phil Bloom today in London, very nice guy indeed. We did a little testing with the Redrock M2, the Brevis35 and the SGpro R2. Phil will be doing a write up on that over the next week, with footage and res charts.

1 thing that I learnt today was how easy the Brevis is to setup and use, since you dont need to adjust any rods support! Nice work Dennis

Dennis,

Thanks for posting the footage link on here, I was coming on here to do the same thing! The director saw the test edit this afternoon for the first time and was ecstatic.

The Brevis is such a powerful tool it helped me tell the story of these guys by just filming their faces. We both agreed that no words will be needed for this section. I shot it in 720p but then downgraded it to dv for editing as the rest of the stuff is shot in standard def DVCAM.

Wayne, I had a look at some of the footage this evening from yesterday. Very nice indeed. Across the board all three adaptors are superb. In an ideal world I would like 4 HVX200s in my car. One with the SGpro on, one with the Redrock on and one each for the Brevis with standard and option 1 diffuser so I can just pick up each one when i want a specific look! Although that may well be out of my budget!!

Argggg... link is dead. I get the link to the other thread, but the one on there doesn't work.

"The requested URL /images/homeless2.mov was not found on this server."

EDIT: how did "hoofandmouf" see it just 7 minutes ago? is it me?

There is grain and noise in the night shots I think quite clearly but quite acceptable amount to be honest. Keeping the light natural was very important to me outside so no top lights or anything, I wanted them lit by the sodium lights so gain was essential, but I think it actually added to the overall feel of the outside stuff.

Thanks everyone for the great comments. I appreciate it.

That was touching Phil. That subject matter combined with that track...wow. Re Satie, check out his Gnossiennes if you're not already familiar...very haunting.

On a tech note, how did you find the latitude compares with these adapters?

Thanks, I love Satie's music so am familiar with his other work. Gymnopedie no 3 just seemed to hit the balance of sadness without being over emotionally manipulative when coupled with the pictures.

Well done, thanks for the post- very interesting music choice.
Any more to say about the Brevis?

Nice looking footage. How did you get the footage so clean in the night shooting I.E. no grain/noise?

James

th image cleans up when you down sample from high def.

i shot the outside stuff with 12db gain and even in hd is was actually pretty good. quite acceptable. amazing to be able to use a dof adaptor is such low light.

we did some more portraits and filming last night. once again the hvx and the brevis excelled!

Phill, if there's one thread I'm eagerly waiting to be updated, it's this one with your Brevis/SGPro/M2 test results, and any further thoughts on the adapters. Inspiring work.
