Just thought I'd let you guys know some good news . . .
Due to some of the politics involved, I'll keep some of the details light. BUT . . .
I recently shot some B-Cam footage for a major network TV show. I brought my HVX, Marshall, Varizoom remote F/I/Z, etc. to the set on location. Their main cam is a 35mm Panavision. When people saw the HVX, they got all curious and interested. And then when I told them about it, they got excited. Especially after seeing some of the footage.
And one guy was completely sold. Even the Director came up to me and asked to tinker with the camera a bit while I was setting up the shot. He was like, "Wow!" Pretty impressed.
For one shot, we were racing against daylight with no powered light on hand (don't ask me why). The HVX performed beautifully at dusk! Didn't even have to touch the gain. No distracting noise.
So I just wanted to spread the word that the HVX is indeed being used for some seriously major projects, even if just to splice in with 35mm film (in this particular case). I'm even more confident that I've made the right purchase decision with this camera and I bet a lot of you feel the same way.
