Hi folks, I've been trying to keep up to speed with all the excitement in here and haven't read any speculation or discussion about the possibility of the HVX being able to *playback* HD content out of it's analog video out ports.
I could see myself shooting and editing a project in Pro HD, but when it comes time to show off the final project on a HD display (Tube, Panel, or Projector) how would I be able to show off all those extra pixels? If I have my polished DVCPro file sitting on my laptop (probably not enough space on the P2), would I be able to hook the HVX up the laptop with a Firewire cable, stream the video file back to the HVX and have the HVX output the video through the Component HD video ports to the display?
This would be a terrific feature, especially since HD-DVD and Blue-Ray are still a little ways off, and that DVCPro HD material is going to look a whole lot better than the more heavily compressed MPEG offerings on those optical discs.
Any thoughts from those cats in Vegas?
Of course, if I'm playing it from a computer with a fast enough graphics card (not sure how fast it would have to be), I could probably output the video straight to DVI which is becoming more common on HD displays. But still, I like the idea of the HVX being part of the delivery of my masterpieces. Plus, it would help justify the cost (which, I must say is extremely generous of Panasonic).
