HVX arrives in Canada

Just got home to find the best answering machine message I've ever received!! My camera is waiting for me at Henry's in Toronto! Woohoo!!

Can't make it down there till Monday though...ARGH! Just a little longer... :D

Just thought I'd give all my fellow pre-ordering Canadians a heads up and a glimmer of hope! :beer: Cheers!

Congrats, Ryan. Glad to hear they're starting to roll in for the folks up north. I believe my local dealer got their display unit in as well.

I'm in a weird frame of mind at the moment. My winter production, for which I had pre-ordered the HVX and then cancelled because it wouldn't be delivered in time (got the JVC HD100U instead), is now being pushed further out into the spring. Means I probably could've waited for the HVX.

The only thing that keeps all the bad feelings at bay is that I really do like the HD100, and I would still have trouble editing the P2 footage with Premiere Pro as things stand currently.

Oh well, that's the way things work in this biz sometimes. Gotta roll with the punches. :)

How much are you paying (Canadian) ?

Well as for price (camera only), it started off at $7500 CAN in November, and I put a 25% downpayment on it when I ordered it in person. In December, the price dropped to $7000. Then, during boxing week I noticed that they had a store-wide sale on all cameras, 10% off, for one week only! So the price dropped to $6299 and I suddenly felt like I'd been screwed for being an early adopter! But after a quick phone call, they agreed to give me that price, with the downpayment ending up giving me leverage in that dispute!

So in the end, I'm paying $6299, which leaves me at just over $7000 after taxes. (wishing I didn't live in Ontario right now! Ack! :P)

Good for you! I'm not a fan of those guys at Henrys. The stuff I overhear them telling customers makes my skin crawl!
 
Heh heh heh.

The reason I got excited was because I'm in B.C.... get to save on the provincial tax.

If I could get it at the same price I'll be in heaven.

Won't hurt to call them....
