HVX and HMC-150 workflow

Hey Folks,

Long time reader, first time caller...

I'm gearing up to shoot a short movie in the next month or so with my friend's HVX (original 200) and was seriously thinking of buying an HMC-150 for myself and then using it as a second camera.

So, from a workflow standpoint, what's the best way to edit footage shot from both these cameras on the same FCP timeline? Should I just use Toast to transcode the HMC-150's footage to DVCPRO HD, so that it plays nice with the HVX stuff? Or, should I transcode both to Apple ProRes? And, if I'm planning on roundtripping the footage to color and then back to FCP, which format makes that whole process easier?

Thanks!

I can't address color - but I've had good results just dropping DVCProHD into a ProRes timeline.

So, there's no extra render time when you stick DVCPRO HD footage on the same timeline? Sweet... Makes my life easier...

I suppose it depends on the speed of your computer - but it doesn't seem to be a problem for me (Quad-2.66 MacPro)...
