HVX and DVCPro-HD Mastering

Hello folks,

I have read a lot of discussions related to DVCPro-HD acquisition. In other words, P2 cards.
Now, in order to make a master of your final movie, you will need a DVCPro-HD deck. So, unless you own one, you will have to rent one, right?
Is Panasonic going to provide another solution for mastering? Cause the current solutions aren't cheap.

Thanks in advance

Fidel.

you could master to HDD. or holographic disc or other high cap data format disc or tape based solutions.. or just take an HDD to a transfer house and take a DVCPRO-HD tape with you.. id sooner do that than pay to rent a deck. pending whats cheaper in your area.

I think the whole idea with P2 is electronic delivery, so as part of the move away from tape for acquisition, we also move to tapeless delivery. Broadcast is already tapeless as most places use media servers.

Right -- tape is becoming irrelevant. You can master to whatever you want -- dual-layer DVDs for under-10-minute projects, hard disks, blu-ray or HD-DVD, holographic storage, DLT tape, or whatever else comes down the pike.
