Recently on a shoot with the HVX we decided to shoot 720/24p so we could mix the footage with what we already have shot on the DVX at 24p. I was assuming that 24p on the HVX was recorded the same way it was on the DVX with a 3:2 Pulldown which makes it conform with no problems to a 29.97 timeline. Now back from our most recent shoot I've imported the HVX footage shot at 720/24p and according to final cut it was recorded at a rate of 59.94. What am I missing here? From what I've read the regular 24p modes of the DVX and HVX should be recorded the same way. Anyone?

720 doesn't work that way. It's a native progressive format so no pulldown is required.
However you shot in the over 60 (59.94) mode so instead of a 24 (23.98) Fps clip you have a 23.98 laid into 60P (59.94) Fps by frame doubling. You need to download the framerate converter from the Panasonic website here:

Then you can extract your 24P.
For future refrence you can record in the 24PN mode and it will record only the discreet 24Fps to the P2 card, eliminating the need to do this proceedure at all.
However in 1080/24PA the DVX style pulldown removal is required for 23.98Fps editing.
