HVX 200A v.s HVX 205A

Hello,

The AG-HVX205A is the Japanese distribution camera. Because the warranty is for Japan only, you won't have any warranty coverage (vs. 1 Year for a new HVX200A).

Also, I believe the AG-HPX205A does not include the 16GB P2 card.

In my experience, the matte box assembly on the 205a does not have the word "Leica" printed on the side, if you care about that sort of thing. (I don't.) It DOES have the Leica branding on the front of the matte box assembly.

does the new 200a produce a crystal clear image compared to the old hvx200 with the tape drive
or is this because vimeo is so much more of a better video player. I noticed Brandondull's video in another thread lookks much more "HD" compared to the videos I've been putting out

I was thinking... transferring warranty from the original user to a new one is a pain. One has to pay what? $250 for inspection, and I believe there is certain timeframe for when this can be done. And the warranty does not extend full 5 years, right?

I mean, if one just needs to shoot several gigs and then sell the camera on eBay, it does not really make sense to buy a "domesticated" product, because a new owner will likely not go through hassle of transferring the warranty.

The only question is whether Panasonic U.S.A. accepts a gray import item at all, even for a paid repair.
