HVX-200 with miniDv tape

Hello, guys. I have an urgent question about recording HD footage on miniDv tapes with the hvx-200.
I'm going to use some hvx-200 (I usually work with sony, wich makes me a bit lost with panasonic) and this question appeard: does HVX-200 record HD with a miniDv tape?
I heard some people say it does, some saying that, with the miniDv, only DV footage can be captured.

Here where I live (Porto Alegre - Brazil) it's a bit hard to find DVCPRO tapes for buying (and, of course, we are trying to keep the budget cheaper).

PS: We are not the owners of the camcorders. No manual to take a look here.

No. The HVX only records standard-def DV to its tape. It records HD onto its P2 cards.

Hmmm. All right, I guess we'll have to find another way to do that job.

the only cameras that shoot (some form of) HD to minidv tape are the HDV cameras from sony, canon and jvc.

so no P2 cards? btw, the manual is available online. and if you do decide to use the camera, you would be well advised to learn the camera and the workflow before the shoot.
