I've been shooting corporate projects using miniDV for 5 years. Time for a new camera. Unfortunately, my computer (running Adobe Premiere 1.5) is not ready for HD. I'll need to upgrade. Due to economics, I'll have to do this one step and a time. New camera comes first. I'm leaning towards the HVX 200 because I can shoot miniDV for now and step up to P2 editing on Adobe CS3 as cash flow permits. Here's my question/concerns:
I have a Sony DSR-25 DVCAM deck that plays miniDV and DVCAM tapes.
1. Will I be able to play miniDV tapes recorded by the HVX 200 on this deck?
2. Will Premiere 1.5 be able to handle the files generated during capture? I assume they'll be DV AVI files, right? Any codec issues?
3. How do you rate the quality of the miniDV footage on the HVX 200?
Thanks for your input.
