hvx 200 repairs--Nivie or Cine Abel

Hey All--

So my trusty HVX finally blew a gasket and now the top buttons, power buttons, and record button won't respond to manual input. Figures it would happen as I was about to list it for sale. It seems this is a fairly common problem however so I'll get it fixed up and list it.

Can anyone recommend Nivie over Cine Abel for repairs? Nivie seems to have better pricing, but Cine Abel seems to have a better brand and just seems over all more trustworthy to me, on purely a superficial level. Any experience would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Matt,
I have a few friends that work at Abel, and have been in their back repair area while testing out some cable glitches. Their repair guys are pros. I have no experience with Nivie, but I haven't a doubt in my mind that Abel is a top notch place for repairs. My advice, you can always cut corners, but sometimes, especially when its something as complicated as an HVX, you really don't want to.

Hello Matt,

We also service the HVX200, and as an Authorized Service Center that includes factory warranty claims. Please feel free to give our service department a call about repair costs and proceedures.

We have an hvx at Nivie right now, so far so good... Good price, less than I thought it would be. But still a g for a burnt out codec board(yeesh), which aint bad considering the part on panny's website was more than a g. They are nice on the phone and seem like they're all good. Will update when we get the cam to assure quality service.
