StrongDotGuy said:The pictures posted by 10s to start this thread were not Panasonic press release photos. They were pictures taken by Camcorderinfo.com staff at the press conference and are proprietary to Camcorderinfo.com. In addition, the quote on the press release was copied exactly from at post I made on the Camcorderinfo.com HVX200 forum board. There's enough legimate information available now to the press that copying info from another site is not necessary. If you want to link to our article, that is one thing. But, to copy and post the information as if it is yours is stealing and a violation of copyright. I think that DVXUser.com is above that kind of behavior.

Yes, the author(s) of copyrighted works should be credited when their works are reproduced somewhere, but they may not be reproduced at all in the first place unless the authors give consent, except for short quotations, e.g. in a book review.
Regardless of how extreme it may seem (and it does) in this context, the concerned so-and-sos were right to complain if the photos were taken by them. It would have been prudent for them to put a copyright notice of those photos, but they were under no obligation to do so.
Regarding the press release written by Panasonic, not only can it be reproduced, it is also meant to be, and as widely as possible, for that is indeed the purpose of a press release !
