HVX-200 PAL version to shoot 24p?

This may be the stupidest question yet..but considering the technology of P2 and its ability to shoot variable frames, is there any way a firmware update (or hack) could allow the PAL version to shoot 24p? It can obviously shoot 23 and 25 - it's so close!!:kali:

Another thing, would 23fps look better than 25fps for film like look? Help me out guys.

Yes the PAL version can be hacked to do a sort-of 24fps; problem is that it won't record audio, and it will still need to be conformed to true 24fps.

And 25 is better than 23 because you get audio, and 25fps is a well-known and accepted filmlook standard, and simple conversion tools exist to convert 25fps to 24fps.

Overall I'd advise a PAL shooter to just stick with 25fps, and do any necessary conversion in post after the fact.

So you would't suggest I hacked it? Because no audio isn't a problem. Thanks for the quick response.

The hack takes about five seconds, it's no big deal. Thing is, you'll still have to conform the frame rate in post to get it to match 23.976 or 24.000. But if you want to try, go right ahead -- just edit a scene file text file to change the frame rate to number 14, I think, and that should do it.

not worth the trouble, I'm PAL country, the film look is not helped much by 24p.

Download some of the hallowsfest movies, most of them are 24p, but some really don't have any film look to them.

the film look is about much more that 1fps.
