HVX 200 & Ninja 2

Hi guys & gals, Is there any way of connecting a Ninja 2 to the HVX200? Or is there something else like the Ninja that will work with the HVX200 & preferably be future proof with HDMI or similar connections? What I am looking for is something to enable me to film for a full day without having to swap cards & downloading etc. This came about by my recent chiropractic conference that I filmed & used several P2 cards to capture everything. I had to download during the day to maintain enough cards & was thinking something like the Ninja would allow me to film all day long, with an appropriate size SSD of course & only have to stop recording when the rest breaks are on. In essence I could film say the whole 2 hour morning session in one go, then the 2 hour lunch session etc. Plus the advantage of having a better screen than the standard HVX one would be nice. Since the HVX doesn't have HDMI for the ninja is there some adaptor that would work to convert the 2 together? Also, I would need to capture the audio to the footage so does the ninja also capture audio & embed it into the file, same as the P2 cards do? I know of the Focus Firestore but that won't let me record long enough to fit a full day in. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Pete.

that could be hard to achieve, the HVX uses a D-Terminal port for HD output... do you have the original component cable which came with your camera? This cable will give you YPbPr (Red, Green and Blue Connector) and HD output (its either 720p or 1080i, no Progressive 1080p - shouldn't be that big of an issue though, the ninja should be able to remove the pulldown on the fly). You would then need some sort of YPbPr to HDMI or SDI cable (or converter) to connect the ninja...

just in case you don't have the cable anymore: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-0976B00...TF8&qid=1376300821&sr=1-1&keywords=d-terminal

component to HDMI: http://www.amazon.com/eForCity-3-RC...1376300894&sr=1-12&keywords=component+to+hdmi

i would get some high quality cables to obtain highest quality - i just bought cheap ones to connect my 7" Lilliput LCD and always got a slight greenish signal, but i used the monitor for framing and focusing purposes only.

Kinda sketchy solution IMO, but could work. The other option would be buying a Firestore FS-100 (external P2 recorder, connects via Firewire). Mine has 100GB of storage space, i've seen modded Firestores with 250gb too. Would give you enough storage for a whole day, but no monitor unfortunately. you can get them fairly cheap on ebay :)

Thanks mate. Yes I have the cable that came with the camera but would need some way of converting that into HDMI as you stated. Hopefully someone else knows a way around it but that is a good start. Thankyou.

So I decided to not bother trying to hook up a Ninja or similar to the HVX, it seemed a lot of hassle.I ended up purchasing a Canon XA20 for the conference shoots.
