Anybody else having this issue?
Workarounds?
Usb seems to be fine, but fw used to be faster in 10.5...

ive had ongoing firewire connection issues. i finally just switched to usb

WGZN..are you saying you're getting better performance offloading P2 with USB than you were with FW on a MAC? As I recall from earlier posts you're dragging and dropping to your HD, right?

yeah, and it may have something to do with my mac. but it was to a point where id have to try to connect 3 and 4 or more times before i could even get the firewire to connect to my macpro.

i started connecting via usb and its first time every time. and as i recall, its 3 or 4 min faster per filled 16gig card than firewire was. but dont quote me on that.

I'll have to give that a try. My mac connects every time with FW no problem but I'm curious to see if USB will give me a speed increase. Thanks.

It was clearly established that if your revision of the HVX camera supports USB 2.0 and your Mac does as well (sometimes not off the keyboard tether port). USB will be much faster, as it's directly wired to the P2 Card slots internal to the camera, while firewire 400 needs an additional layer to go via the Codex board, and get re-wrapped in Firewire storage device.

Please be more cryptic, I almost accidentally understood what you wrote...
Simply copying P2 contents to Mac from HVX-200.
What's cryptic here?
Firewire was faster in Leopard but with Snow it's much slower than usb.
Friend of mine just told me that it took 40 mins to copy 16GB card to his new 13" MBP via fw.
Same thing with my old MacPro after I upgraded it to 10.6(.3).

Has anybody compared copying speed 10.5+fw vs. 10.6+usb with same camera and Mac?
